The Maesbury Canal Festival will take place on the 4th & 5th September at Canal Central, Maesbury Marsh, SY10 8JG adjacent to the Montgomery Canal. The festival is sponsored by the Shropshire Union Canal Society and supported by the Friends of the Montgomery Canal and the Shrewsbury Branch of the Inland Waterways Association.

Over forty boats including old working boats, Saturn a restored fly boat and trading boats will meet at Maesbury for the Festival. Within the grounds of Canal Central there will be exciting children’s activities, stalls and craft demonstrations (some of which will offer ‘hands on’ participation) including blacksmithing skills, weaving, wood turning, canal art painting, jewellery making, felting and dyeing. Morris Dancers and the Porth y Waen junior brass band will also be entertaining the visitors.

We are planning an exciting family weekend with something for everyone, not just canal enthusiasts and boaters.  Why not make a date in your diary and come down and join in the fun.
